Webinar ‘High water refuges for beavers to protect vital infrastructure like dikes and (rail)roads’
In February the first floating high-water refuge for beavers was installed in the Netherlands to protect vital infrastructure like dikes and (rail)roads. When beaver lodges and burrows submerge by rising water the beaver starts to look for a dry place. In many cases this is a dike or a (rail)road. By building high water refuges the beaver is offered a better place than the dike/(rail)road, so both human and beaver can safely survive the high water. In this webinar, Dutch and German experts will share their knowledge and experience. What is the goal of a high-water refuge, how is it designed, what is the best location and other information.
