Sandbag Science. Work Instructions placing Sandbags for Instructors

Laying sandbags as a temporary raising or reinforcement of a dike can be done by anyone, but it must be done correctly. This booklet is intended for instructors who need to explain to, for example, a group of volunteers how to fill sandbags, how to move them as a group (passing them to one another), and, of course, how to lay them. Incorrectly laid sandbags can easily wash away. Furthermore, improper lifting or passing of sandbags reduces the efficiency of the group of volunteers. Anyone who has dealt with, or might deal with, laying sandbags should read this booklet at least once!
