Pharmaceuticals and personal care products in the water cycle. An internationla overview
The issue of pharmaceuticals (PhAC) and personal care products (PCP) and their residues is part of the research agenda of most of the members of the Global Water Research Coalition (GWRC). It is on the priority list of GWRC. The board of the GWRC decided in 2003 to start a project with the aim to review the occurrence and assess the risks of PhAC and PCP in the water cycle and to organise a workshop to develop a phased research strategy. This project was carried out by STOWA (project management) and Kiwa Water Research (project execution). All GWRC members contributed to the project by funding or providing expert knowledge about this issue.
